Hello, world

First post. Why I'm starting to write.

I've been meaning to start writing publicly for a while. Every time I found a reason not to — not ready, not interesting enough, need a better setup first.

The setup is now done (I built it this week, actually), so here we go.

Why write?

A few reasons:

Thinking out loud. Writing forces you to be more precise than thinking in your head. Half the ideas that feel solid in my mind fall apart when I try to write them down. That's useful.

A record. I forget things. Projects I worked on, problems I figured out, what I was thinking about at a particular time. A blog is a searchable log of what I've been up to.

Connection. The internet runs on people putting things out there. Some of my favorite people to follow online are just people who write about what they're building or learning. I want to be that for someone.

What I'll write about

Mostly:

  • Things I'm building (apps, side projects, this site)
  • Things I'm learning (CS, languages, tools)
  • Things I'm reading or thinking about

I'll try to keep posts short and specific rather than long and vague.

Let's see how this goes.
